LifeBed Maintains Patient Safety while Decreasing Hospital Costs

Eric Stempson (pseudonym)  was a patient who was involved in a major tractor accident during which a vehicle’s tire rolled over the right side of his body. Eric was admitted to the hospital and placed onto a Hoana Patient Vigilance System for monitoring.  After trauma surgery, Eric was placed on a variety of pain medications and had a sitter present 24hr/day to observe his condition.  After a period of days, Eric began to be weaned from the various pain medications, and he was without any of the major symptoms of pain, and did not request much pain medication. Over time, Eric began to improve and the bed exit function was used to replace the costly bed sitter as method to bring the nurse to the patient’s bedside if needed, and keep the patient from leaving the bed and possibly being injured.

Eric and his nurses were all thankful for the LifeBed patient vigilance system as it helped keep the patient in bed, prevent further injury, and it also provided a way to alert the nurse should the patient need assistance.
